As you know, olive oil is not only for culinary purposes, but it can be useful as cosmetic too especially for hair mask. As the name suggests, olive oil is acquired by pressing olive fruits. However, it is recommended to use only extra-virgin olive oil for cooking, because the manufacturing process does not involve chemical substance. For hair mask, any olive oil will do. To make your own olive oil hair mask, follow these instructions.
The basic ingredient is of course olive oil, but you will need some other things to create different types of hair mask for different purposes. Each step below provides different instruction for a different hair mask. What you need to make all types: olive oil, coconut oil, honey, eggs, old towel, plastic cap, aloe vera gel, powdered milk, and apple cider vinegar.
Moisturizing Hair Mask
To make a moisturizing hair mask, mix 2 eggs and 4 tbsps of olive oil. Mix them well and apply to both scalp and hair. Keep on massaging the mixture for about 5 minutes and cover your head with a plastic cap afterward. Leave it for about 20 minutes and wash your hair as usual.
Soothing Hair Mask
Shooting hair mask requires only olive oil and honey. You can mix 2 tablespoons of honey with 3 tablespoons of olive oil for this treatment. Apply the mixture to hair and scalp, and then cover your head with plastic wrap. Leave it for approximately 30 minutes before wash your hair as usual.
Hot Oil Treatment
To use olive oil for hot oil treatment, you will have to mix it with another essential oil. For this purpose, you can mix 3 tablespoons of coconut oil with 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Put the mixture into a double boiler and warm it up. You need to use double boiler so you don’t overheat it. Before applying it to your scalp, make sure the oil not too hot.
Massage the mixture into your hair and scalp for few minutes and then use a plastic cap to cover your head for about 30 minutes. Hot oil treatment with olive oil should give immediate result, leaving your hair softer and shinier than before.
Conditioning Hair Mask
A conditioning hair mask with olive oil requires the most ingredients. You will need to mix 0.5 oz. olive oil, 2 oz. aloe vera gel, 1 oz. powdered milk, and 2 oz. apple cider vinegar. Apply the mixture into a damp hair and cover it with plastic cap. You also need to cover the plastic cap with hot towel and leave it for 30 minutes for best results.
